Freelance Dancers Opportunities
Balletto Monson is a newly established dance company and Community Interest Company (CIC) in Scotland, currently developing its first creative works. The company is seeking to connect with freelance dancers for opportunities to join the company on project based and ad hoc basis during this development period.
At this early stage, Balletto Monson is self-funded and can offer hourly wage payments at or above the national minimum wage, alongside in-kind support to attend company classes and development opportunities.
Artists engaged with the company will work with the artistic and creative team and develop projects contributing directly to small-large scale funding and touring applications, presentations at festivals and the delivery of paid education and outreach work.
As a CIC, all income generated is reinvested into the company to build a sustainable organisation and to create stronger, fairer opportunities for artists in the future. Our mission is to support dance artists by fostering collaboration, creative development, and professional growth.
Our artistic work challenges traditional notions of the “ideal ballet body.” We particularly welcome applications from dancers who have been underrepresented or marginalised within ballet.
Applicants should have completed professional training in Classical and Contemporary dance with strong partnering skills and knowledge of other genres beneficial.
The company will also accept expressions of interest from undergraduate students in their final season of training for shadowing and development opportunities with the potential to join the company on completion of training.
We are committed to fostering long-term relationships with dancers seeking a professional dance “home” and aim to provide a supportive, inclusive environment in which artists can thrive.
This opportunity is well suited to dancers who enjoy collaborative creative processes and are interested in contributing to the development of a company from the ground up. We are committed to supporting dancers based in Scotland, and will hold rehearsals in Edinburgh or Dundee, depending on dancer availability/location.

The Developing Artist Programme is tailored for graduates of advanced dance training who are ready to extend their learning into a professional environment. It offers the time, space and structure for dancers to refine their technique, build performance experience and develop the practical skills required for a dance career.
As an extension of Balletto Monson’s company practice, the programme focuses on Contemporary Ballet with a strong creative emphasis. It supports progression into the main company and other professional pathways while encouraging each dancer to articulate their voice within a shared choreographic language.
